Are you afraid of failure?
Well, most of us do. But we must remember that failure is not the opposite of success but it is a part of success. To achieve success in life one has to face certain challenges and failures. How we react to these failures determines our success.
Almost every successful person you can think of has experienced failure in the beginning. Apple founder Steve Jobs was fired from Apple by the company's directors in 1985.
Did he give up? no!
That same year, Jobs created a computer platform called NeXT.
In 1997, Jobs helped Apple overcome bankruptcy and became Apple's CEO again. Steve Jobs' attitude of facing every failure and not giving up made him who he is today. Failure is when you don't get the result or outcome you want. Let's say you like to play cricket.
So, when you play cricket with your friends you play to win the game. But for whatever reason, you don't win, you feel like you've failed. Failure can be really stressful and if handled incorrectly can affect your mental health.
Failure usually discourages us and we start to feel insecure. So, here are 5 ways to overcome failure and get stronger. Accept Accept Responsibility
Step 1: Accept and take responsibility Don't blame someone else for running away from your failure. Embrace that you failed this time and you can do better. Take full responsibility for failure but don't punish yourself. Let the guilt sit for a while so that you realize the mistake. Analyze Your Errors
Step 2: Analyze Your Errors Failures can have various causes. The reasons can be internal or external. Internal causes include your performance and actions. External causes can be situation, environment, unexpected event etc. External causes cannot be controlled.
But the internal causes of your mistakes can be identified. Identify where you went wrong and what you can do to improve things. These mistakes are very important and you should learn from your mistakes, so that you don't repeat it next time.
Move On Step 3: Move On In Life After realizing your mistake, you must ask yourself, what's next? You shouldn't stop there. You must see the path ahead of you. Plan what you can do next. If you are not sure, take a break and then decide. Indulge yourself in some hobbies and look for opportunities around you. You can also ask your teacher or mentor for guidance. You will find a way forward.
Control Your Emotions Step 4: Control Your Emotions Don't get trapped in emotions like anger, sadness or jealousy just because you failed.
Instead, release yourself from such emotions as you will begin to feel lighter. Try to overcome the self-doubt that you may have because of failure. Realize that one failure doesn't mean it's the end. In fact, it could be a new beginning for you. Take your failure positively and get rid of the burden as soon as possible.
Find Alternative Ways Step 5: Find Alternative Ways If you've failed at something multiple times, you probably feel like it's not the right path for you.
For example, say you fail an engineering exam multiple times. There is a high probability that you don't like or are not suited to engineering. Apart from this, there are many other options. So, try to figure out the alternative paths that can lead you to success.
The more alternatives you try to find, the better choices you will have. In summary, let's summarize all 5 steps to overcome failure faster.
